Hormone therapy rarely fits a once-a-day box. A patch might change on Mondays and Thursdays, a gel goes on every morning, an injection lands weekly or fortnightly, and cyclical progesterone runs for a set number of days each month before stopping. Meanwhile the supply you're tracking isn't tablets but pumps in a bottle, patches in a box, or millilitres in a vial — and running out mid-regimen is both uncomfortable and avoidable. Kounts Dose handles the intervals and cycles as real schedule types, counts whatever unit you're actually using, and keeps every bit of it on your phone, which for this particular category of medicine a lot of people care about a great deal.
What actually goes wrong: Two-day-a-week patch changes and fortnightly injections are the schedules most apps can only fake with daily reminders you dismiss five times a week — and once you're dismissing reminders reflexively, the system has stopped working.
Setting it up in Kounts Dose
-
Twice-weekly patches: use specific weekdays
Pick the two days you change them — Monday and Thursday, say — and Dose reminds you only on those days. No daily ping to train yourself to ignore, and the history shows whether Thursday's change actually happened.
-
Injections: set the interval and let it roll
Weekly, every ten days, every fortnight — use the every-N-days schedule and Dose tracks the next due date from the last one, so a dose taken a day late shifts the schedule rather than leaving you guessing.
-
Cyclical progesterone: use a cycle
If yours runs for a set number of days each month and then stops, the cycle schedule expresses that directly — on for the active days, quiet for the rest, restarting on the right date without you rebuilding it monthly.
-
Count the unit you actually have
Set supply in whatever you're counting — patches in the box, pumps in the bottle, tablets in the pack — and Dose gives you “about N days left” for it, plus one nudge before you're down to the wire. The refill sheet tops up by 1, 5, 10 or a whole pack in a tap.

Kounts Dose is an organiser, not a clinician. It does not advise on doses, timing, injection technique, site rotation, blood tests or what to do about a missed or late dose, and it does not check interactions. Hormone therapy is individually prescribed and monitored — follow your prescriber's or clinic's instructions, and take any question about changing a dose or schedule to them.
Why it suits this routine
The intervals are native, not improvised
Specific weekdays, every N days, cycles with on and off phases, fixed courses, and multiple times a day with different amounts. These aren't workarounds layered on a daily reminder — each is a schedule type with its own setup, which is why a twice-weekly patch doesn't generate five useless notifications.
Private in a way that matters here
No account, no server, no ads, no data collection. Your medicine list — names, doses, dates — sits on your iPhone; optional sync uses only your own private iCloud. Nothing about your hormone therapy is stored with us, because there's no “with us” to store it in.
A long record, kept quietly
Hormone regimens run for years and get adjusted along the way. History gives you a calendar, a week grid and a full chronological log, and Dose Plus exports it as CSV — useful when a clinician asks what you've actually been taking and since when.
Questions, answered
Can it remind me to change a patch twice a week?
Yes — set the medicine to specific weekdays and choose the two days you change it, and you'll be reminded on exactly those days. Weekday scheduling is part of the one-time Dose Plus unlock.
Does it handle weekly or fortnightly injections?
Yes, with the every-N-days schedule — every 7, 10 or 14 days, whatever your regimen uses. Log the injection when you do it and the next due date follows from there. Dose does not track injection sites; if rotating sites is something you need recorded, an app with explicit site tracking such as MyTherapy does that and Dose doesn't.
Will it tell me when I'm running low on gel or vials?
Yes. Enter the supply in the unit you're counting, and Dose subtracts as you log, shows roughly how many days you have left, and nudges you once before it's urgent — early enough to get a repeat prescription sorted.
Is my HRT information private?
It stays on your iPhone. There's no account to create and no server of ours involved; if you enable sync, it uses only your own private iCloud database, which we cannot read. We never receive medication names or doses — analytics are anonymous feature counters.
Can I keep a note of what dose I'm on?
Yes — each scheduled time can carry its own amount, and each medicine can hold a note, so a change from one strength to another is recorded going forward and visible in your history rather than living in your head.
Never miss a dose. Never run out.
